Slightly more boys than girls are born in Spain, but women live longer: that is why there are more men among the young and more women among the old. Here it is measured as the number of men per 100 women.

By age

Above 100 there are more men than women; below it, more women. Today women are the majority in every age group from 55 upwards.

By region and province

In 35 of the 52 provinces there are more women than men. The highest proportion of men is in Lleida (105.7) and the lowest in Asturias (91.3).
