Town council accounts
Outturn of the town council budget (what was actually collected and spent, not what was budgeted). To make the comparison fair, it is set against the median of municipalities in the same population band (>500.000 inhabitants). Amounts are per person and adjusted for inflation, in 2025 euros.

Debt at the end of each quarter: €1,511 M in current euros at the latest reading. Per person using each year's Municipal Register and adjusted for inflation.
Town council only (excludes the provincial council, associations of municipalities and municipal companies). Years in which the council did not submit its outturn to the Ministry of Finance are shown as missing, not as zero.
Income and unemployment
Trend
Trend
Trend · per 100 inhabitants
Income: INE Household Income Distribution Atlas, based on tax data. Unemployment: jobseekers registered as unemployed with SEPE on the last day of the month, relative to the municipality's total population (there is no 16-to-64 population figure by municipality).
Neighbourhood by neighbourhood
Each patch is a census section, the smallest unit of official statistics: some 1,000-2,500 people who vote at the same polling station. Hover over it to see its figure.

There are no section results for this election in this municipality (local election results are only published for municipalities of over 250 inhabitants with closed lists).
Census sections: INE boundaries for the year of each figure, over the IGN street map. Income: INE Household Income Distribution Atlas, which caps the richest and poorest sections at a common maximum and minimum (hence the «≥» or «≤» in front). Votes: Ministry of the Interior results by polling station added up by section, excluding the vote of residents abroad. Vote percentages are of valid votes (lists and blank). Sections are split or renumbered when their population changes, so some may appear grey if there is no figure for that year. Regional elections: polling-station data from each region (the Ministry of the Interior does not publish them), added up by section. Asturias only publishes Gijón and Extremadura only Cáceres.
Tourist accommodation
Trend · % of dwellings
Trend
Dwellings advertised as tourist accommodation on the major online platforms (experimental INE measurement, every six months). It ranks 970 out of 3,151 municipalities with 1,000 or more inhabitants by share of tourist dwellings. More in Tourism.
Farm soil
21 % of the municipality is farmland (127.1 km²; in the province, 37 %). On that land the most common texture is loam and the most widespread soil type is luvisols.
Topsoil (0-30 cm) from the SoilGrids model (ISRIC), in 250 m cells, over the farmland of the CORINE Land Cover 2018 map. In small municipalities the figure comes from very few cells: it gives a rough idea, but it is no substitute for a soil test of the field. Comparison with the rest of Spain and Europe in farm soils.
Crime
Trend
Trend
Trend
229,662 criminal offences known to the police within the municipality (Crime Report, municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants). In tourist municipalities or those with an airport the rate per registered resident comes out high because many victims are visitors.

Who governs?
Alcalde since 17/06/2023
josé luis martínez-almeida navasqües
List: PP · Political family: PP
Lists are grouped into political families (for example, PSC, PSOE-A or PSdeG-PSOE under «PSOE»). Years are calculated from the continuity of the name and the family across terms; in 2007-2023 the source sometimes uses generic coalition labels («C. ELECTORAL», «OTROS»), which appear as «Sin detalle en la fuente» (no detail in the source) when they cannot be resolved.
